With four sets of tees to choose from players of all abilities will have the option to find a tee to best suit their game. The Par 71 layout measures 6,730 yards from the Gold Tees; 6,317 yards from the Blues; 6,021 from the White markers and 5,150 from the forward Red tees. The course and slope ratings start at 70.0/124 and work their way up to 73.4/130.
The combination of outsandng playing conditions and course layout make Scenic Hills one of the finest golf courses available to the public in Pensacola.
Scenic Hills is in sharp contrast to other golf courses in Florida. Dramatic elevation changes are prevalent as well as mature tree lined fairways. While water plays a factor on six holes the forced carry over these hazards is minimal insuring a fun and enjoyable round of golf.
The sharply framed holes play to generous putting surfaces making for a wide variety of hole placements. Playing to the middle of the greens is sound advice as wayward shots will most likely end in trouble as all greens are surrounded by strategically placed bunkers.
One of the most challenging holes is the par 4 1st hole. Playing 416 yards from the White tees this downhill hole is a stern test right out of the gate. Most players will be hitting anything from a 4 or 5 iron into this green, while the longer players may hit an 8 or 9 iron. The green has two bunkers on the right hand side to catch errant shots. Don’t hit over this green either as a steep faced bunker that is not visible from the fairway looms for shot that goes over the green.

After the stern test of 1 the 2nd hole is a relatively easy par 5 measuring only 465 yards from the Blue tees. The key to this hole is to stay left of and avoid the two fairway bunkers and stately pines that frame the right side of the hole. If this is accomplished there is possibility to hit the green in two or get to easy wedge distance to set up the birdie putt.
The ninth hole is great finish to the front nine. An uphill, sharp dogleg left par 4 measuring 399 yards from the blue tees the key to this hole is getting your drive in the fairway to set up an easier approach shot. The second shot also plays uphill to a long, narrow, well bunkered green. Par on this hole is a great score.
The back nine starts with one of the more enjoyable holes the par 4 10th. A short, straight away, down hill hole the 10th measures only 341 yards from the white tees. The longer hitters can challenge the hole by trying to knock it on the green while the other players can knock it to wedge distance. This a great hole to get your back nine started on the right foot.
The par 4 15th hole has a beautiful view from the tee and is framed by a row of Pecan trees down the left hand side. This medium length par 4 hole plays 388 yards from the White tees and can be stretched to 427 yards from the Gold tees. A drive to left side of the fairway is optimal as this will open up the green for the second shot. The green is guarded by a big bunker on the right hand side which is best to be avoided.
The 18th hole is a great way to finish your round on the best public golf course in Pensacola. An uphill par 4 that measures 375 yards from White tees. A drive in the fairway is a must. A well hit shot off the tee will leave most players with a 6 or 7 iron into the green. If the pin is in the front or middle part of the green, birdie is a strong possibility. If the pin is the back portion of the green, especially back right par is a good score.
