As a result of our management team's tireless efforts, we completed our first year hitting 100% of our operating financial goals. The ship has been righted and now it's time for the larger capital improvements we discussed as we came aboard. The results of our June membership survey confirmed our priorities for investment in expansion.
We've had many companies bid on the signage and entry project for 9 Mile Road. We have an approved design that provides definition and balance to the property entrance and a separate double-sided lighted brick sign with channel letters and digital display board. The sign will very elegantly let everyone know SHCC is back!
We want our members to have the best. We have decided to remodel the entire Pavilion into a dedicated members space. It will have a full bar with food service, a casual indoor/outdoor vibe, a bevy of televisions and bar games, a myriad of seating styles and amazing views. The additional benefit of this space is that we will be able to elevate the social experience in the main bar/restaurant.
Over the winter 2018 you saw machines and manpower throughout the entire 18 holes cutting trees to improve playability and the health of the grounds. We will also be updating some of the ‘'waste'' areas into functional design areas that will be easier to maintain and add a very finished look to the course. There's a long list of projects that are too much to list but please take the time to thank our operations team as you seem them work on these improvements.
With the need for additional square footage, our desire is to convert the current cart garage into functional club space that will include the following a fitness facility, bays for golf simulator and indoor league play, card and meeting rooms to name a few.
The initial phase will be open rooms for fitness classes, followed by the addition of weights and equipment.
The top industry manufacturers have come to SHCC to demonstrate their systems. The hardware/software cost is significantly accompanied by a facility buildout. The solution we choose will be designed for golf instruction and club fitting, as well as indoor league play.
Card memberships are coming. We have some wonderful card and game groups and they deserve dedicated space for full and quiet enjoyment. These rooms will also be available as small meeting rooms.
We understand that a pool is critical for our young immediate and extended families. We are currently evaluating the cost/benefit of Resort vs Olympic style pools. The next few months we'll develop the opportunity more fully.
Similar to the pool, we are involved in continued conversation with tennis and pickleball professionals to get the right mix of courts for our members and guests.
Driving Range and Practice Facility
We are designing a completely new driving range and practice facility that will include training bays, mats, covered areas and lighting for evening play. In addition to the range, we will expand our short game practice areas to include bunkers and new putting surfaces.
